Not Self-Occupied but Christ-Occupied
Finding Freedom in Shifting Your Focus from Self to Jesus
So many of our struggles come from being overly focused on ourselves—our failures, weaknesses, and shortcomings. Whether it shows up as constant self-condemnation or an inflated sense of superiority, self-occupation traps us in cycles of fear, insecurity, and pride. But God invites us to a new way of living—one where our minds are no longer dominated by "I" but renewed and transformed by Jesus. When we shift from self-awareness to Christ-awareness, everything begins to change. Instead of obsessing over what we lack, we begin to rest in who He is. Christ lives in us, and the life we live now is not based on our performance but on His finished work. This is what it means to walk by faith—trusting daily in the One who loved us and gave Himself for us. As your heart and mind become more occupied with Jesus, you'll notice His character flowing through you naturally. Love, peace, joy, and kindness begin to surface—not from striving, but from abiding. You don't have to force holiness; it becomes the byproduct of being with Him. Just like touching water makes you wet, being close to Jesus makes you more like Him.
Today I Confess
My identity is rooted in Christ. I am not who I was—I am who He says I am.
