To Drink or Not to Drink?

Understanding Alcohol Through the Lens of Scripture and Wisdom

The Bible gives room for drinking in moderation but warns strongly against drunkenness. Jesus turned water into wine at a wedding (John 2:1–11), and Paul encouraged Timothy to use a little wine for his health (1 Timothy 5:23). These aren't endorsements for excess but reminders that God's gifts can be enjoyed with self-control and thanksgiving. Today's culture often distorts that gift, using alcohol to cope or escape instead of to celebrate with purpose. Proverbs 20:1 says, "Wine is a mocker, strong drink is a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise." Wisdom asks: is this drawing me closer to clarity, purpose, and peace—or slowly stealing my edge? If your life speaks for your faith, every choice matters. Romans 14:21 reminds us not to do anything that might cause another to stumble. You may be free, but love sometimes chooses restraint. The deepest joy and clearest witness come when you live by conviction, not convenience.

Proverbs 20:1 (NKJV) – "Wine is a mocker, strong drink is a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise."

Today I Confess

God is near, and I am never alone. I choose to believe His Word and live in His truth.
