This bath soak was designed with children in mind, but it works beautifully for adults too — anyone who needs to wind down at the end of a full, active day. The ingredients are gentle, safe, and effective, with nothing synthetic or harsh.

Epsom salt delivers magnesium transdermally, which helps relax muscle tissue and calm the nervous system — particularly helpful for children who carry physical tension from active play or stressful school days. Baking soda softens the water, balances pH, and soothes any skin irritation. Roman chamomile and lavender are among the gentlest essential oils available and are well-established for their calming, sleep-promoting properties.

The fractionated coconut oil acts as a dispersant for the essential oils and leaves skin lightly moisturized after the bath. Make a larger batch of the dry base to keep on hand for nightly use — it takes less than a minute to add to a warm bath.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Epsom Salt
  • 1 tbsp Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp Fractionated Coconut Oil
  • 2 drops Roman Chamomile essential oil
  • 2 drops Lavender essential oil

How to Use

  1. 1Mix Epsom salt and baking soda together in a small bowl.
  2. 2Combine essential oils with the fractionated coconut oil separately, then stir into the dry mixture.
  3. 3Draw a warm bath and stir the blend into the water until dissolved.
  4. 4Soak for 15–20 minutes.
  5. 5Pat dry after the bath — no need to rinse.
  6. 6Follow with bedtime routine. Most children feel noticeably calmer and sleep more readily after this soak.
