Golden Spice Blend for Coffee & Protein Drinks
A simple, make-ahead anti-inflammatory spice blend that stirs right into your morning coffee or protein shake — warming, powerful, and ready in minutes.
Turmeric is one of the most well-studied natural anti-inflammatories on the planet. Its active compound, curcumin, has been shown in clinical research to reduce inflammatory markers, support joint health, and help with chronic pain when used consistently. The challenge has always been getting enough of it — and getting your body to actually absorb it.
This blend solves both problems. By mixing turmeric with black pepper, you increase absorption by up to 2,000% (piperine in black pepper is the key). Cinnamon adds warmth and helps balance blood sugar, while ginger supports digestion and adds its own anti-inflammatory benefit. Mix it once on Sunday and it is ready for the whole week.
The real secret to making this a habit: keep the jar right next to your coffee maker. Out of sight is out of mind. When it is sitting right there, you will actually use it.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional — adds warmth and balances bitterness)
- ½ teaspoon ground ginger (optional — great for digestion)
- Or use a pre-made turmeric, black pepper & ginger blend
How to Use
- 1Mix the blend: Stir together all ingredients in a small bowl until evenly combined.
- 2Store it: Transfer to a small glass jar with a tight lid. Keep it right next to your coffee maker so you remember to use it. Stays fresh for up to 3 months.
- 3Use it: Add ¼ to ½ teaspoon of the blend per cup of coffee or per serving of protein drink. Stir well — it settles, so give it a good mix before each use. Start with ¼ tsp and work up to what tastes right to you.
- 4For coffee: Stir the blend directly into brewed coffee. A tiny splash of coconut oil or MCT oil helps your body absorb the turmeric even better.
- 5For protein drinks: Add to your shaker bottle before you shake. Cinnamon and ginger complement vanilla or unflavored protein powder really well.
