There are days when mood needs a gentle lift — not a stimulant, not a sedative, but something that simply makes the emotional weather lighter. This blend was formulated for exactly that: a bright, uplifting combination of citrus and floral oils that genuinely shifts emotional state through the olfactory-limbic connection.

Bergamot and grapefruit are both citrus oils with documented mood-elevating effects. Research on bergamot aromatherapy has shown reductions in negative emotion and fatigue; grapefruit has a bright, energizing quality that is widely used in aromatherapy for its ability to counteract low mood and mental sluggishness. Ylang ylang brings a sweetly floral, euphoric quality that complements the citrus notes beautifully.

Clary sage is the balancing element of this blend — it has long been used for emotional and hormonal balance, and its linalyl acetate content gives it mild anxiolytic and antidepressant-like properties. Use this blend in an inhaler for quick access throughout the day or in a roller for wrist application whenever a mood lift is needed.

Ingredients

  • 3 drops Bergamot essential oil
  • 2 drops Ylang Ylang essential oil
  • 2 drops Grapefruit essential oil
  • 1 drop Clary Sage essential oil
  • Carrier oil to fill if using as roller bottle (omit for inhaler)

How to Use

  1. 1For inhaler: add essential oils to a clean cotton wick, insert into inhaler tube, and cap tightly.
  2. 2Inhale 3–4 times as needed throughout the day.
  3. 3For roller bottle: add essential oils to a 10ml roller bottle and fill with carrier oil. Cap and shake.
  4. 4Roll onto wrists or pulse points as needed and inhale from wrists.
  5. 5Use during low-mood periods, emotional fatigue, or whenever a brighter emotional state is needed.
  6. 6Store with cap closed tightly to preserve the citrus notes, which fade faster than other oil types.
