This blend brings together four of the most well-researched essential oils for sleep support into a single, versatile formula that can be applied topically to the wrists, neck, or feet, or loaded into a personal inhaler to keep on the nightstand.

Lavender is the most studied essential oil for sleep, with multiple clinical trials showing it reduces anxiety, improves sleep quality, and increases slow-wave sleep. Roman chamomile adds gentle sedative properties through its ester content and is particularly calming for the nervous system when anxious thoughts make sleep difficult. Cedarwood contains cedrol, a compound shown in animal studies to have sedative effects through inhalation.

Vetiver is the anchor of this blend — a deep, earthy, grounding oil that is widely regarded as one of the most powerful oils for calming an overactive or anxious mind at bedtime. Its slow, heavy molecular structure means it releases gradually through the night, providing extended aromatic support. For inhaler use, apply the oils directly to the cotton wick without carrier oil.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp carrier oil (fractionated coconut oil or jojoba oil) — omit if using as inhaler
  • 4 drops Lavender essential oil
  • 3 drops Roman Chamomile essential oil
  • 2 drops Cedarwood essential oil
  • 1 drop Vetiver essential oil

How to Use

  1. 1For roller bottle: add essential oils to a 10ml roller bottle and fill with carrier oil. Cap and shake.
  2. 2Apply to wrists, back of neck, or bottoms of feet 15–30 minutes before bed.
  3. 3For inhaler: add essential oils directly to a clean cotton wick without carrier oil. Insert and cap.
  4. 4Place inhaler on nightstand and inhale slowly for 3–4 breaths as you settle into bed.
  5. 5Use consistently each night — the calming effect deepens with regular use as the body learns to associate the scent with sleep.
  6. 6Store roller or inhaler in a cool, dark place.
