Living Beyond the Struggle
Your Answer Is Found in a Person
"If I'm free from the sin nature, why do I still struggle with sin?" That's a question many believers ask in frustration. But the answer doesn't lie in trying harder—it lies in who you're looking at. Romans 7 shows us Paul's intense battle with his flesh, and the constant use of "I," "me," and "my" makes one thing clear: when we focus on ourselves, we end up exhausted and defeated. That's what life looks like when we try to overcome sin in our own strength—even though our sin nature was crucified with Christ. But here's the shift: Paul doesn't leave us stuck in Romans 7. He cries out, "Who will deliver me from this body of death?" And the answer isn't a principle, a process, or a plan—it's a Person. "I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!" (Rom. 7:25). When we set our eyes on Jesus, we step into Romans 8, where there is no condemnation and we live by the Spirit, not by striving. Jesus already condemned sin in the flesh—ours included. The flesh may try to rise up, but it no longer reigns over you. So why do we still sin? Because while the power of the sin nature is broken, we still have flesh—and when we walk by it instead of the Spirit, it produces all kinds of mess. But we're not ruled by it anymore. Victory isn't about behavior modification—it's about identity and focus. When you live aware of Christ in you, the grip of sin loses its hold. Freedom doesn't come from fighting your flesh; it comes from trusting the finished work of Jesus. Let Him be your answer today.
