Ready and Willing

Why the World Needs More Laborers Now Than Ever

January 8, 2025Author: Trish TiptonCategory: Faith

When Jesus said, "The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few" (Matthew 9:37–38 NKJV), He wasn't just talking about a specific time in history—He was speaking into the heart of every generation. Today, people are searching for truth, peace, and purpose, often without realizing that what they're really longing for is Him. The world is full of opportunities to share God's love, but too many believers hesitate, either feeling unqualified or too distracted by their own lives to engage in the work of the Kingdom. This scripture challenges us to wake up to the need around us. God is already moving—softening hearts, opening doors, and drawing people to Himself. But He needs us to partner with Him, not just in prayer, but in action. We are the laborers He's calling to go, to speak, to love, to pray. And if we feel overwhelmed by the task, He tells us exactly what to do: "Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest." It starts with prayer, and prayer positions us to be willing ourselves. If we've ever wondered what our purpose is, this verse gives us the answer. We are here for the harvest. Not everyone is called to a pulpit, but we're all called to the people in front of us. Our yes might be the answer to someone's silent prayer. Let's not miss the moment—we were made for this time.

Today I Confess

I live by faith, not by sight. God is faithful, and I trust Him with my whole heart.
