The Father Who Runs Toward You

Grace That Greets You Even When You've Failed

Have you ever wondered how God responds when you've completely messed up? Jesus gave us a powerful glimpse into the Father's heart in the story of the prodigal son. When the son was still far off, his father saw him, felt compassion, and ran to him. "But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him" (Luke 15:20 NKJV). That father wasn't waiting to lecture or condemn—he was watching and hoping for his son's return. That's how God sees you, even when you feel far away. Maybe you've convinced yourself that you've gone too far this time or that God is too disappointed to welcome you back. But here's the truth: God's love doesn't hold back. Just as the father in the story put the best robe on his son, gave him a ring, and prepared a feast, God is ready to restore you fully. Your mistakes don't change how much He loves you. Even when you come back with a broken spirit and hungry heart, He wraps you up in His grace and says, "You're home." It doesn't matter why you're coming back or how long you've been away—He just wants you close again. God's not waiting to punish you; He's running toward you with open arms. Today, take that step back toward Him, even if it's hesitant or small. You're not met with judgment—you're met with love, celebration, and a Father who's never stopped looking for you.

Today I Confess

No matter how far I've wandered, my Father runs toward me with open arms. I am always welcome home in His grace.
