The Law Was Written, But Grace Spoke

Jesus, the Author of the Law, Took Our Judgment and Nailed It to the Cross

Colossians 2:13–14 tells us that before Christ, we were spiritually dead, trapped in sin and bound by the law that stood against us. But Jesus took that law, every accusation against us, and nailed it to the cross, wiping it all away. Think about the moment when the woman was caught in adultery. The Bible doesn't say what Jesus wrote on the ground, but I believe He was writing the Law of Moses. Since the temple floor was made of stone, Jesus wasn't just writing in the dirt—He was writing on stone, just as God did when He gave Moses the Ten Commandments. When Jesus wrote twice, it mirrored how God gave the law twice—first on tablets that Moses broke in anger, then again, placed under the mercy seat. This wasn't just a random act—it was Jesus declaring, "I am the One who wrote the law." And yet, He didn't use it to condemn. Why? Because He came to fulfill it for us. He took every punishment, every curse, every requirement upon Himself at the cross. That's why we are forgiven—because He was judged. We are accepted—because He was condemned. Whatever you're facing today, let this truth sink in: Jesus didn't come to hold the law over you—He came to set you free!

Today I Confess

I'm no longer bound by the letter of the law. Grace has spoken on my behalf and declared me righteous through Jesus.
