Apple Cider Vinegar Facial Toner
A balancing toner that minimizes pores and helps with oily and acne-prone skin.
Apple cider vinegar has a pH very close to the natural pH of healthy skin, making it an effective toner that restores the skin's acid mantle after cleansing. The acid mantle is a protective layer on skin's surface that keeps moisture in and bacteria out — cleansers with a high pH can disrupt it, and a diluted ACV toner helps restore it.
The acetic acid in ACV also has mild antibacterial properties, which can help with acne-causing bacteria, and alpha hydroxy acids that promote gentle exfoliation and brighter skin tone. Many people with oily or acne-prone skin find that regular use minimizes the appearance of pores and reduces breakouts.
Always dilute ACV significantly before applying to skin — undiluted ACV can cause chemical burns. If your skin is sensitive, start with a weaker dilution (one part ACV to four or five parts water) and increase gradually.
Ingredients
- 1 part raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar
- 2 to 3 parts filtered water (or rose water for added skin benefits)
- Optional: 2 to 3 drops tea tree essential oil for extra antibacterial action
- Small glass bottle with cap or cotton pads for application
How to Use

- 2Add tea tree oil if using and shake again.
- 3After cleansing and before moisturizing, apply to a cotton pad or ball.
- 4Swipe gently over face, avoiding the eye area.
- 5Allow to dry completely — one to two minutes — before applying moisturizer.
- 6Start with once daily use and increase to twice daily if your skin tolerates it well.
