For those looking to lighten their hair naturally without harsh chemicals, this gentle spray works with sunlight to gradually enhance existing highlights and create a warm, golden tone. Chamomile tea has been used as a natural hair brightener for centuries — its apigenin content interacts with melanin pigments in hair to gradually shift color toward golden tones with repeated use.

Lemon juice accelerates the lightening process through its citric acid content, which opens the hair cuticle slightly and makes it more reactive to UV light. Honey is a natural humectant that conditions hair as it lightens, preventing the dryness that lemon juice can cause on its own. Cinnamon essential oil adds a gentle warming effect and contributes additional lightening potential.

This spray works best on medium to light brown, blonde, or naturally highlighted hair. Very dark hair will see only subtle results without extended sun exposure. Avoid overuse as lemon juice can dry hair over time — pair with a nourishing conditioner. Shake before each use as the ingredients will separate between applications.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup chamomile tea (brewed and cooled)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 5 drops Cinnamon essential oil (optional)

How to Use

  1. 1Brew chamomile tea and allow to cool completely.
  2. 2Combine all ingredients in a glass spray bottle and shake well.
  3. 3Spray evenly through dry or damp hair before going into sunlight.
  4. 4Allow hair to air dry in the sun for best results.
  5. 5Avoid overuse — limit to 2–3 times per week to prevent dryness.
  6. 6Shake before each use. Store in the refrigerator for up to one week.
