More Than Bread
Feeding Our Spirit with God's Word
We all know our bodies need food to survive, but Jesus reminded us in Matthew 4:4 that our spirits have a hunger too. When He said, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God," He wasn't just resisting temptation—He was revealing a truth we often overlook. Spiritual strength doesn't come from routines or religion; it comes from a steady diet of God's Word. The Word of God is our true nourishment, just like physical food fuels our bodies. If we're only feeding our physical needs but ignoring the spiritual, we're going to feel weak, empty, or constantly searching for something more. Every promise, every truth, and every correction in Scripture is life-giving. It teaches us, strengthens us, and draws us closer to the heart of God. We aren't meant to just "snack" on Scripture once a week. Just like we need daily meals, we need daily Word—reading it, hearing it, and letting it soak into every part of us. When we do that, we'll find we're not only sustained but growing stronger every day, no matter what the world throws our way.
